Recorded live in New York at the Knitting Factory in June of 1989, Live On Tour is based on what would have been a legitimate Negativland "live" double-CD to be called Live Stupid. The material was originally planned to be released by SST in 1992 as legally contracted as part of the SST/Nland settlement over the U2 fracas. Nothing came of Live Stupid for five years until SST released it in 1997 in a shorter version with edited song titles, few liner notes, and renamed Live On Tour, around the time of Negativland's release of DisPepsi on Seeland. Negativland contends that the release is unauthorized.
